Tulu Koota Kuwait Celebrates Culture with Successful Tulu Parba Competitions 2025

Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK), a prominent cultural association affiliated with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, successfully concluded its much-anticipated Tulu Parba Competitions 2025 on Friday, October 3, 2025. The competition was held at the Indian Community School Auditorium, Salmiya. The event was a spectacular showcase of Tulu language, tradition, and community spirit.

Mr. Lional Rayan Mascarenes & Ms. Prapti Prashantha Shetty, the opening comperes of the event, welcomed the gathering. This was followed by Kuwait and Indian national anthems to express gratitude to Janma Bhoomi and Karma Bhoomi. The opening ceremony featured a graceful classical welcome dance by Ms. Arshia Ramesh Bhandary, a young talent of TKK, and a melodious prayer song by Mr. Suresh Salian, the main coordinator of the event.

To set an auspicious tone, TKK Committee ladies, along with Mr. Suresh Salian, the main coordinator of the event and Mrs. Veda Shankar Shetty, first lady of TKK, performed the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The Tulu Parba Competition was uniquely inaugurated with artistic flair as President Mr. Shankar Shetty and Mr. Suresh Salian completed Mr. Naveen Shetty's painting by showering it with glitter.

Marking the start of preparations for Tulu Parba 2025 on October 24, 2025, the TKK Management Committee and Advisory Committee members officially unveiled the stunning Tulu Parba banner and flyer, a creative design by Mr. Manoj Kumar.

In his presidential address, Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK) President Mr. Shankar Shetty extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He passionately stressed the critical role of these cultural events in fostering community growth and cohesion, reminding members that their active participation is the backbone of the organization's success. He then took a moment to brief the audience on TKK's various activities and ongoing welfare activities, concluding by inviting everyone to the grand celebration of Tulu Parba 2025 while offering his best wishes to all participants.

With the formal ceremony concluded, Mr. Lional took the opportunity to announce the start of the competition. In an exciting move, he invited the young talents of TKK to take charge. The event was brought to life by TKK's emerging stars - the second generation of Tulu Koota Kuwait - who skillfully served as Masters of Ceremony. The core anchoring duties were expertly handled by Ms. Prapti Prashantha Shetty, Ms. Arrushi Manoj Kumar, Ms. Mugdha Harish Bhandary, and Ms. Sanidhya Sanath Shetty, whose performance on stage was widely appreciated.

The day was packed with enthusiastic participation across all age groups, with competitors performing brilliantly and treating the audience to a rich Tulu cultural experience. The competition concluded with the high-energy Tiger Dance competition, which was expertly conducted by Mr. Manoj Kumar Shetty. The diverse range of competitions included:

  • "Baby's Journey" video and Fancy Dress for toddlers.
  • Role Play – TuluNada Festivals for kindergarteners.
  • Coloring & Pot Painting for kids.
  • "Tulu & Tulunadu Show and Tell" showcasing cultural objects by young minds.
  • Yakshagana Dance demonstrating classical art forms.
  • Tulu Poem writing, Tulu Paardhana Singing, Solo Dance, Solo Singing & Group Dance and many more.
  • Fun competitions preparing Charmuri for gents & memory challenge.
  • Madrangi (Mehendi art) competitions highlighting traditional skills.

The day culminated in a formal prize presentation ceremony led by Ms. Sharon Gonsalves (PRO of Tulu Koota Kuwait), with prizes proudly distributed by the TKK Committee members. The official proceedings concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Jagadeeshwara Shanubhouge U, General Secretary, who extended gratitude to the Indian Community School for providing the hall for the event, Wave Events & Rentals for light and sound, Mr. Joylan Nikil Pereira for capturing the event through photography, and Shangri La caterers for dinner.

He also thanked all sponsors of Tulu Koota Kuwait and the esteemed judges, whose time and expertise were crucial in evaluating the wide array of talent and ensuring the integrity of the competitions. Their support was instrumental in the success of the event. He extended his appreciation to all the participants, main event coordinator, the dedicated committee members, and the talented young emcees, whose overwhelming support made the Tulu Parba Competitions 2025 a resounding success.
